The New Hyperbaric and Wound Care Center at Jordan Valley Medical Center Celebrates with a Ribbon Cutting and Open House
February 19, 2010

The new Hyperbaric and Wound Care Center at Jordan Valley Medical Center celebrated with a ribbon cutting and open house on February 19, 2010. The center provides specialized medical treatment for hard-to-heal wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers, venous stasis ulcers, bone infections, lower leg ulcers, skin tears and lacerations, postoperative infection, gangrene, radiation burns, and ostomy care and management.

The 4500 square foot center features a beautiful patient waiting area, three exam/treatment rooms and a hyperbaric room with two individual hyperbaric chambers to facilitate Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Hyperbaric therapy delivers 100 percent oxygen under pressure to cells. During HBO2 Therapy, patients breathe pure oxygen while inside a hyperbaric chamber in which the atmospheric pressure is increased up to three times normal pressure. The combination of increase pressure and oxygen in high concentration results in a great amount of oxygen being dissolved in the cells (10 – 15 times the normal amount). The increased oxygen levels in the cells and tissue stimulates the healing process, increases ability to fight infection, decreases swelling, and aids in the growth of new blood vessels. The chambers are composed of glass and allow the patient to rest comfortably on a bed while watching television.

The center is located on the campus of Jordan Valley Medical Center in the Medical Arts Plaza, 3590 West 9000 South, Suite 105. For further information please call (801) 601-2322.
