Grief Support Group Offers Hope, Counseling, Connections To Those Experiencing Loss
Jordan Valley Medical Center and Pioneer Valley Hospital Offer Free Grief Support Groups Throughout 2011
Dec. 20, 2010
To help adults who have recently suffered the loss of a loved one, Jordan Valley Medical Center and Pioneer Valley Hospital will be offering four free grief support groups to the public in 2011.
These six-week groups meet weekly with the purpose to help bereaved people understand the grief process. Those attending the group will explore topics such as working through the process of grief, living with loss and making memories.
The grief support group will be facilitated by Chaplain LeNae Peavey-Onstad and Chaplain Janice Ewing, both of whom are experienced grief counselors. They will offer a combination of teaching, discussion, learning and meditation activities.
“This group will help bereaved people better understand the grief process, their emotions and how to cope with loss,” said Peavey-Onstad. “We created this group to meet the bereavement needs of families, and we invite everyone in the area who is seeking support after the death of a loved one to take advantage of it.”
The chaplains recognize the bereaved as the experts in grief and encourage their participation by creating a comfortable, safe environment. Group meetings will take place on the following dates at the specified times and locations.
