Jordan Valley Medical Center Marks American Heart Month with Utah Legislators at ‘Heart on the Hill’
Jordan Valley Screens Legislators, Encourages Utahns to Look at Their Heart Health
Feb. 3, 2011

February is American Heart Month, and Jordan Valley Medical Center is starting it right by sponsoring the 2011 Heart on the Hill screening with the American Heart Association (AHA) on Friday, Feb. 4, at 8 a.m. at the Utah State Capitol.

Jordan Valley Medical Center is sponsoring the Heart on the Hill screening along with its sister hospitals in the IASIS Healthcare system. Salt Lake Regional Medical Center, Davis Hospital and Medical Center, and Pioneer Valley Hospital will also be participating, screening lawmakers and their staff members for heart disease risk factors via free blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose and body mass index tests.

“We’re here to protect and promote the health of Utahns, which makes partnering with the AHA for Heart on the Hill during American Heart Month a natural event for us,” said Marcus Brann, cardiologist on the medical staff at Salt Lake Regional Medical Center. “Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, despite the knowledge we have to prevent and postpone it. It would be terrific if the rest of the state would follow the example of our legislators and get screened for high blood pressure and other treatable risk factors.”
