Jordan Valley Medical Center Expansion Nearly Doubles Size of the Hospital
Ribbon Cutting Celebration Planned For Jan. 29

WEST JORDAN, Utah (Jan. 28, 2009) – In response to a growing need for medical services, Jordan Valley Medical Center will unveil its 97,000 square foot expansion with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Jan. 29. The $52 million, multi-phased project nearly doubles the size of the hospital that has been serving the southwest Salt Lake Valley for more than 25 years.

The expansion project, specifically designed for optimum patient comfort and increased efficiency, consists of three new hospital patient floors; 10 additional critical care beds; 88 new inpatient beds; 15 new beds in the emergency department; a new, fully automated laboratory system; a redesigned outpatient cardiology center; and a Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

“When this hospital was built more than 25 years ago, the original founders promised to do everything they possibly could to grow and meet the needs of this community,” said David R. White, chairman and chief executive officer of IASIS Healthcare. “The new expansion of Jordan Valley Medical Center allows us to offer our patients a high quality care experience in an environment specially created to increase their comfort levels, as well as offer healthcare services that were previously unavailable.”

“As a long-standing partner in this community, we are proud to serve the healthcare needs of the people living in the southwest valley,” said Jordan Valley Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Bryanie Swilley. “And, our commitment to healthcare excellence is the driving force behind our investments in innovative patient technology, enhanced capacity and new service lines.”

The area of care that has the ability to most significantly and positively impact the lives of the people of the southwest Salt Lake Valley is the Level III NICU that will be fully operational starting in May of this year. As the highest possible designation for intensive care neonatology, the new Jordan Valley Medical Center Level III NICU is equipped with the latest technology and staffed with highly skilled care providers who are prepared to care for babies born with extreme complications and/or under tremendous distress.

Swilley added, “Over the past several years, we have added a sleep center, an outpatient rehabilitation center, an outpatient surgery center and a medical office building to our campus, as well as expanded our women’s center. We are thrilled that this most recent expansion now makes Jordan Valley Medical Center one of the most comprehensive and notable hospital facilities in the greater Salt Lake area.”

Joining Swilley at the ribbon cutting celebration on Jan. 29 are Utah State Representative Steve Mascaro; Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon; IASIS Healthcare Chairman and Chief Executive Officer David R. White; IASIS Healthcare President and Chief Operating Officer Sandra McRee; Jordan Valley Medical Center Governing Board Chairman Garner B. Meads, M.D.; Jordan Valley Medical Center Medical Staff President Bryce Dee Allred, M.D.; and a host of other hospital and community leaders. The celebration will begin at 11 a.m. in the inpatient entrance lobby on the east side of the hospital.

Jordan Valley Medical Center (JVMC) has been serving the health care needs of the southwest valley for more than 25 years, and currently has 172 licensed beds. The hospital specializes in family-centered maternity care, orthopedics, general surgery, emergency care, cardiology services and many other specialties. JVMC is part of the IASIS Healthcare® system that owns and operates 15 acute care hospital facilities and one behavioral health hospital facility spread across six states: Arizona, Florida, Louisiana, Nevada, Texas and Utah.
